Wedding Planning Checklist

 

So you just got engaged!

 

Your planning the wedding of your dreams, where do you start?

 
Your Wedding Checklist: 10 to 12 months before your wedding

*Tell your parents, important family members, and close friends the good news!
*Then Arrange for your families to meet, if they haven't done so already
* Envision the big picture of your wedding: Formal or casual? Day or evening?  Church or back yard?
*Set a budget- Decide who's paying for the wedding, or who's going to contribute
*Start your guest list.

*Select day and time (have backup dates in mind)
*Select and reserve your ceremony and reception sites
*Hire a wedding consultant, if you're using one
*Choose and book officiate
*Choose bridesmaids, groomsmen, ushers, flower girl and ring bearer
*Find and meet with florists, caterers, and musicians.

 

Your Wedding Checklist: 8 to 10 months before your wedding

*Shop for and order your wedding dress
*Sign a contract with your wedding caterer
*Book wedding florist and choose arrangements
*Book your musicians and/or DJ for both ceremony and reception
*Select and confirm your wedding photographer (and your videographer, if you're using one.)
*Shop for and order your bridesmaid and flower girl dresses
*If you're making your own wedding favors, start doing so now.
*Meet with wedding cake designers or bakers and arrange for a tasting

Your Wedding Checklist: 4 to 6 months before your wedding

*Send at 6 months, save-the-date announcements or call out of town guests to let them know the final date, time, and location of the wedding.
*If you're purchasing wedding favors, do so now
*Start planning your rehearsal dinner. Give the host(s) your guest list
*If your caterer isn't doing it for you, reserve any rental equipment you'll need, including dishes, tables, chairs, linens, tents
*Register for gifts
*Select your wedding cake designer, and order your wedding cake
*Order Invitations 
*Purchase your wedding rings
*Book wedding night accommodations and accommodations for out-of-town guests


Your Wedding Checklist: 2 to 3 months before your wedding

*Mail Invitations at 3  months before
*Buy gifts for your wedding party, parents, and each other.
*Check accessories, including under garments, veil, gloves and shoes
*Select the groom's tuxedo or other attire, what the groomsmen will wear, and arrange to purchase or rent

Your Wedding Checklist: 1 months before your wedding

*Schedule finally dress fittings, hair & nail appointments
* Make sure all the groomsmen have been measured for their tuxedos

 

Your Wedding Checklist: 1 week before

* Pick up marriage license
* write checks for wedding services
* Write thank-you notes to parents and those helping with the wedding

 

Your Wedding Checklist:  Wedding day

*Get adequate sleep the night before
*Enjoy the day!

 

Your Wedding Checklist:  After the wedding

*Mail thank-you notes for wedding gifts

Planning your wedding doesnt have to take a year to plan.  Sometimes the best events are the most spontaneous ones. The same philosophy applies to weddings as to any other party. Brides should look at it as simply the best party they’ve thrown, and doesn’t always mean big bucks. Every choice should convey a sense of who you are. If things aren’t perfect, no one will know but you. Your guesses are there to help you celebrate your special day
